JUNIOR PROGRAMS Albert Sailing Club  has a range of activities on Albert Park Lake for juniors aged 8 to 17 years, with all levels of experience catered for. Programs in school Terms 1, 2 and 4. Program include :

* Tackers Learn to Sail programs conducted by the Boatshed at the State Sailing Centre (next to Albert Sailing Club) for juniors 8 - 12 years at various times and dates. 

* Junior Development (Green Fleet) program for juniors 9 - 12 years who have completed Tackers programs and Youth Development group program for 13 - 17 year olds.
Joint Albert Park Boatshed/Albert Sailing Club programs on saturday afternoons.

Junior developmentSail in  Ozi Opti boats or your own Optimist/Minnow class boat.
Youth Development in Boatshed provided Pacer class boats.

As at early October 2022 details for Junior Development programs in Term 4 to be determined based on resources and demand. Send email to training@albertsc.org.au with name, age and experience level for possible registrants.

School holiday programs usually September, December/January, and April/May

VIODA Optimist Class Association training at ASC on sunday afternoons 1 - 4pm in School Terms 2 and 3. Need to have your own Optimist class boat.

Saturday afternoon club racing most Saturdays of the year with separate division starts for junior classes. Entrants in club races generally have their own boat, with ndercover racking available.

The club has 3 International Optimists available for hire for club races for juniors who have shown a suitable proficiency in a junior development or school holiday program.

The typical Junior ASC programs are :

Learn to sail programs. Dates and details for ASC programs in  Learn to Sail  The main option is to register for Tackers programs at the next door Albert Park Boatshed, Discounts available for ASC juniors

Junior Development and Youth Development programs  for juniors 8 on Saturdays afternoons school terms. 
The program is mainly non-competitive, with an introduction to racing. Focus is on enjoying sailing and developing skills beyond Learn to Sail level. Most participants use a Boatshed or a club training boat or can use their own Optimist Minnow or Open Skiff class boat. Instructor lead program.

 School holiday Junior programs  
Usually January, April and September programs. For ASC juniors members or temporary members who have completed a Learn to Sail or Tackers 2 and/or 3 training course.  

Monthly Club social sailing day held on last sunday of most months in the Spring/Summer/Autumn months. Opportunities for juniors and adults to try sailing in a club boat under supervision of an Instructor or experienced club member.  In 2020 arrangements dependant on COVID19 situation and guidelines.

* ASC has annual Junior membership and family membership option for those wanting to participate in ASC programs. 
Winter junior Associate membership for members of other sailing clubs is available for participation in club racing program and Class Association programs hosted by ASC in period May to September.
