Check out information about the end of the Winter series (but not winter sailing!), the club sailing committee and the new clothing items that can be purchased from the club.

Welcome to Thursday Snippets

The 8 race 2010 Winter Series finished on Saturday 24 July with a very light race with winds in the range 0 - 5 knots from the westerly quarter. Boats sailed by Albert members did well in the Sabre Association Travelers race held in conjunction with the final Winter Series Race. Geoff Saliba showed his light wind skills to record a narrow win from Chris Dance, the 2010 Sabre Victorian champion, with Ron Fergusson in Hun third.
The Club's sailing committee had its monthly meeting in the morning. Key topics discussed included the club regatta held in June; the draft 2011 sailing program; actions and further activities for the Rules and Protests group ; the club's training boats and equipment ; and actions to be undertaken at the next club working bee on 29 August.
On Saturday 31 July we have a break from series races with a Mid Winter Trophy Race. Keith Staite, one of our experienced Laser sailors is the Race Officer, and is looking at options for something "different.  The four race Bill Hooper Series, named after our founding member and first commodore William "Bill" Hooper then commences on Saturday 7 August. There are a number of events on in the Albert Park Reserve during August, including a couple of Community Walks on Sundays. The Sea Scouts Regatta on 29 and 30 August is the only one that has an impact on our sailing program.
We are expanding our club clothing range. Our line of clothing has been updated with the following items:
Image
The new club beanie is made of wool (doesn't loose heat when wet) and will be available this Saturday for $15. It is especially important in winter to keep your head warm while sailing!

The club visor is fantastic in the summer months, allows you to keep your cool on the water. The visor is $12.

The singlet has the Albert Sailing Club logo on the front and back. It is made of super stretchy spandex to go over all your sailing gear. Made by Sail Equipment Australia (SEA) this will help you avoid getting tangled up in the sailing gear. Sold for the same price as SEA sells a blank singlet at $25.
Of course there is our other clothing items available:

Windcheaters (now in navy!) are $27.
