Albert Sailing Club 2021 'Pop-Up' Regatta.
DUE TO THE LATEST LOCKDOWN IN MELBOURNE, THE POP-UP REGATTA SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY JULY 17 HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
WE WILL LOOK AT RESCHEDULING ONCE THE LOCKDOWN HAS CEASED AND RESTRICTIONS PERMIT US TO ORGANISE A SUCCESSFUL EVENT.
We invite you to come along and enjoy the excellent conditions currently available at Albert Park Lake and the hospitality of our club at our one day 'Pop-Up' Regatta on Saturday 17th July (subject, of course, to CoVid restrictions at that time).
This event will consist of short-course racing, and will be held at the scenic Albert Park Lake, South Melbourne. The lake provides safe, relatively flat (no waves) sailing, but challenges sailors with frequent wind changes and gusts due to its shallow depth, the island in the middle and the trees and buildings surrounding the race area. Recent rains have filled the lake and the weed has just been cut, so the conditions will be great if the wind gods favour us on the day.
Racing will commence at 1.30 p.m. with a briefing session at 12.45. Racing will conclude around 4.30 p.m. , followed by a free BBQ and the presentations. Racing will be conducted in accordance with the club's Standard Notice of Race and Standard Sailing Instructions (modified appropriately for changes applicable to July 17) and all race documents can be found below.
Entry is open for all monohull dinghys < 5.5 metres.
Entry is free for sailors with an Australian Sailing number if pre-registration is done by Wednesday 14th July. The fee is $10 for all late entries, excluding ASC and APYC members who pay no entry fee.
Pre-registration is requested due to CoVid restrictions and numbers are limited, so early registration is recommended.
Catering and Parking
Catering will be available from the club galley for lunch on Saturday, To assist with catering numbers, please indicate on the Registration form whether you are likely to require lunch on the day (rolls, pies, etc). A cafe is located on the shores of the lake a short distance from the clubhouse.
A free BBQ will be available at the conclusion of racing and the club bar will be open with drinks at 'bar prices'.
Parking restrictions are strictly enforced at the lake so please ensure you purchase the appropriate parking ticket prior to coming to the clubhouse.
W hen visiting Albert Sailing Club, please check and follow the ASC COVID19 Safe Plan and Guidelines for Members and Visitors. ASC COVID guidelines. In particular, on entry to clubrooms or boatyard check in with QR code or sign in sheet in foyer. Don't attend if unwell with possible COVID symptoms or in self isolation.
