TOP OF THE LAKE REGATTA 2025:  REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

If you don't feel like hanging  up your sailing boots for the winter, then this is the regatta for you!  The Albert Sailing Club Top of the Lake Regatta is on again in June and, subject to further rain over the next few weeks, promises to be bigger and better than ever.   So do some rain dancing and then come and join us for this popular winter event and see if you can be the 'Top of the Lake'.

Racing Details

The regatta will run over 2 days (June 21 and 22) and is open to all mono-hull yachts < 5.5metres in length.  The event will see short-course racing at the scenic Albert Park Lake, South Melbourne. The lake provides safe, relatively flat (no waves) sailing, but challenges sailors with wind changes and gusts due to its shallow depth, the island in the middle and the trees and buildings surrounding the race area.  Racing will commence with the warning signal at 13.12 p.m.  on Saturday June 21 and at 10.27 a.m. on Sunday June 22.

All competitors are required to be a current member of a Sailing Club and have a current Australian Sailing Number.  If you or your crew member do not meet these requirements, please notify us on the registration form.

Lake Water Level Information:  The water level in the lake is still lower than we would like, and, whilst sailing is continuing, centreboards need to be partially raised and sailors prepared for a drop down to the water when launching boats from the foreshore decking.   We are checkin the water level regularly and providing updates on our website homepage, in our Thursday Snippets emails and Facebook posts.   Information will also be available on this regatta page during the week of the regatta.

Should low water levels continue and mean that the event is compromised or is unsuitable for a particular boat class/sailor, a full refund will be issued to any registrant who notifies the club of their withdrawal  prior to Friday 20th June.

Information for Junior Green Fleet Sailors

Junior Green Fleet sailors need to nominate that they will participate as Green Fleet Sailors on the registration form.  Green Fleet Sailors will race in a specific Green Fleet Division. The Organising Authority reserves the right to cancel racing for Junior Green Fleet sailors on any day of the regatta should wind and racing conditions be considered unsuitable for Junior Green Fleet sailors.  If that occurs, a full refund for the cancelled days will be given  to those registrants.

Club Facilities and Catering

The canteen upstairs in the clubhouse will operate over the lunch period on Saturday and lunches should be pre-ordered and paid for upon arrival at the club to guarantee availability.  Sunday's lunch break may be relatively brief to allow racing to recommence as soon as possible.  A café is located a short distance from the Clubhouse.

A  barbecue will be available on the club balcony after sailing on Saturday and hot nibbles will be provided after sailing on Sunday. Both are included in the registration fee.

Changerooms are available for males and females, but the club currently has no specific all-abilities or gender neutral  facilities.

There is no lift access to the upper level of the clubhouse.

Parking

Car parking on weekends is in Aquatic Drive at the rear of the club, with all day parking on weekends via ticket machines.  Parking inspectors are active in the area so don't forget to get your ticket.

The gravel area next to the Club is for loading and unloading of boats and equipment.  Parks Vic fines are applicable for parking of cars for more than 15 minutes in the gravel area.

Boat Storage

Limited boat storage is available at the club for the regatta.  Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to store your boat overnight.
